The paint and the brush came together and illustrated a beautiful picture called the Oceania Women Opera, with recurring strokes of faith, heritage and music. Donina Va’a, Project Director/Lead Executive Pacific Women’s Professional Business Network INC and Maestro Iglese Ete, an esteemed composer, the said paint and brush, were the geniuses behind showcase on 30th November, held at the Chatswood Concourse. Amongst the bumbling audience were the Crown Group, which are the event’s primary sponsors, Lindt, Cerrone, Bite Size and Crunch Fitness.

The Oceania Women’s Opera is a tribute to two important academics, the late Professor Epeli Hau’ofa and the late Teresia Teaiwa, whose research in Pacific Islander culture is ground-breaking. Continue reading “When the Brush paints Oceania”

“Witness the Movement,” is the tagline to the Pacific International Runaway. Those compelling yet straightforward three words encapsulate the importance of diversity, in the name of fashion. On the 21st October 2017, the movement has indeed sprung up again, bigger than ever, as it was held at the prestigious venue, the Star, Sydney. Award ceremonies are known for acknowledging an artist’s achievement, but it also a vehicle for change and bold political statements. This year at the Arias we see multiculturalism being embraced, diversity celebrated, blood sweat and tears rewarded. It was a chaotic day on November 30th, 2017.  The likes of Australian music royalty such as; PNAU, Amy Shark, AB Original, Dan, Jimmy Barnes, Kasey Chambers, Illy, Flume and Client Liaison, Peking Duk, Vance Joy,  graced the red carpet with their glittering and flamboyant presence.  It’s Star Central Magazine’s first coverage of the Arias. “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens is a kind of tale that you would like to share amongst a group of bright-eyed children near a crackling fireplace and a Christmas spruce. There is something about this Charles Dickens’ classic novella that encapsulates the warmth and joy of Christmas. Based on the same book title “The Man Who Invented Christmas,” by Les Standiford, the film is vivid re-invention of a classic novel where it ventures to the imaginative mind of Charles Dickens.
